    The Boldness of Black

There has to be character to the drink that humans prefer next to water, Tea. And amongst all teas, black tea makes up 75% of the world’s consumption for obvious reasons. They are comforting, with rich flavours, but not withstanding the bold aroma and relatively long shelf lives.

The Camellia Sinensis leaves are harvested and allowed to fully oxidize, where the oxygen interacts with the tea plant’s cell walls, turning the green rolled leaves to a rich brown colour giving them a characteristic flavour profile, which could be malty, bold, brisk, floral, fruity, or light and delicate. They are then heat-processed and dried to give you final Teamonk’s black tea experience.

Black teas also boldly aid in mental and physical well-being. The Theaflavins and Thearubigins combine with caffeine to boost mental alertness and better concentration. While its antioxidants are good for your  heart, its anti-ageing properties help in fitness of your mind and body.

  • Oolong Tea

    The Harmony of Oolong

Not everything that meets midway is balanced, or has harmony in its duality - unlike Teamonk’s Oolong Teas. The slightly fermented and semi-oxidized tealeaves of Camellia Sinensis form a tea that is a magical mix between black and green tea.

Like fine wines, every Oolong is treated differently, with varying levels of oxidation ranging from 8% to 50%, with various flavour profiles, some leaning more towards green and some closer to malty black teas. After which, our teas go through the artisanal shaping of curling, rolling or twisting into thin strands, which modify their colour, aroma and appearance. The uniqueness of Teamonk’s selection of Oolong teas lies in its ability to offer you the delicacy of green tea with the bold taste of black tea.

Not surprisingly, these teas also bring great harmony and physical well-being. Packed with antioxidants, the Oolong leaf combines the goodness of Catechin with mild Caffeine which fights harmful free radicals in the human body.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
  • Green Tea

    The Grace of Greens
One sip of Teamonk’s Green teas helps one understand what ‘going green’ really means. The grace and gentleness of nature translates perfectly into the pristine pale liquid. As it is with all our teas, timing is everything in crafting the perfect green teas. Once the leaves from the Camellia Sinensis plant are harvested, rolled, they are heated with great speed, either by pan dried or steam dried quickly to prevent oxidation. While our Green teas can have a flavour profile ranging from sweet to buttery to grassy to vegetal to nutty to toasty, their fresh picked flavour is maintained without compromise.

The grace of greens extends to body and mind without bias. There is often a dilemma in deciding whether the superior taste and subtle flavour of the green teas outweighs the health benefits due to its rich antioxidants. Traditionally, in India, Japan and China, Green tea has been used by Monks to meditate with “alert awareness” as it helps them to stay awake and conscious.

  • White Tea

    The Wisdom of Whites

It is indeed a wonder of nature as to how the youngest and freshest of tea leaves buds have the silvery white hues of wisdom. Adding to that these leaves undergo the least processing and are dried and withered in the most natural way possible. The buds are hand rolled to lock in the innate flavours, and dried in natural sunlight, bringing out the finest taste and aroma.

While the tea itself ages gracefully, it’s rich anti-oxidants including Polyphenols, a phytonutrient, has various health benefits including anti-ageing properties.

Since it undergoes the least amount of oxidation, white tea has a soft, delicate flavour compared to other tea variants like green, oolong or black tea. Subtle favours that are well appreciated by those who like the subtler things in life.
